The Institute for Wind Energy Systems contributes to limit the infection rate by executing its entire education program online in the summer semester 2020. The courses are integrated as learning modules on the ILIAS platform. The learning content is provided as weakly input.
The learning content comprises videos of lectures and tutorials as well as electronic versions of the lecture documents. Moreover, the institute offers online consultations via BigBlueButton, which is a web conference system integrated in Stud.IP. We further moderate forums, which give the students the opportunity to help themselves, to network, to build learning groups, and to train their explanation competence.
After some weeks of online teaching, we can conlude that the concept has started and is implemented successfully, especially due to the positive feedback that we received from students. The high quality of the learning videos has explicitely been emphasised. We are proud of the recognition, as online education is new for us, and the preparation of the videos is a lot of work. And we are happy that it's worth the effort.
