As a voluntary part of some of our courses, we organise a one-day excursion. We visit the Fraunhofer Institute for Wind Energy Systems IWES in Bremerhaven and their unique test infrastructure from full rotor blade to drivetrain testing. One of the highlights is a trip to the prototype of the formerly largest offshore wind turbine, which is the Adwen AD 8-180 with a rated power of 8 MW and a rotor diameter of 180 m. That turbine is operated by Fraunhofer IWES for research purposes.
Registration
The excursion is offered as part of the module Wind Energy Technology I and is currently being planned. Information on registration will be announced in the course.
